Dear Albright Reporter:

I just wanted to express my congratulations to the Domino Players on
their April production of The Mikado. This was one of the best productions
I’ve ever seen in the greater Reading area (and I’ve seen a lot). I
am still amazed by it.

From the first moment to the last, the entire production was practically
flawless and absolutely delightful. Jeffrey Lentz’s vision of this operetta was
a refreshing update of this beloved staple of the musical theater, and the
set by Cocal Bernal, along with the lighting, was jaw-droppingly gorgeous.
The colors and textures of the minimalist scenery, props and costumes
(dancing ninjas, even!) were wonderfully evocative of Japan.

The cast was uniformly excellent. Bravo to these wonderful students-
-leads and chorus alike—all of whom performed without electronic amplification
(as it should be, but which also is a testament to their vocal
training). Their movements, timing, vocal and acting skills were just superb.
You certainly hit the jackpot with this group of students to mount such a
wonderful theatrical experience. It all went together beautifully.

I am sorry I missed Lentz’s award-winning Waiting for Godot, but I will
try not to miss another production staged by Lentz and Bernal. These two
are artistic treasures and the greater Reading community is fortunate to
have such talent in our midst.

Again, bravo to the Domino Players Theatre Company and to the Albright
Theatre Department for this marvelous production.
