Biography
Jordan M. Shomper is the Visiting Director of Choral Activities at Albright College where he directs the Concert Choir, Albright Angels, and Mane Men, leads vocal and conducting lessons, and teaches courses in the general music curriculum. He is on-faculty at Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA and serves as an assistant-conductor for premiere chamber choir Vox Philia in Reading, PA. While teaching in the public school, he led sections of skill-based general music, music-directed musicals, and conducted multiple choral ensembles. Mr. Shomper has won multiple grants for these ensembles, funding the commissions of many composers.
Mr. Shomper was recognized as the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA)-PA’s 2020 Outstanding Young Conductor. He serves ACDA as Repertoire and Resources Chair for Jr. High and Middle School Choirs, as member of the App Committee for National and Regional conferences, and was featured as a panelist on the ACDA-PA Zoom Webinar: Teaching Choir Online. An active member of PMEA, he has led sessions at the 2017, 2018, and 2019 Professional Development Days, and hosted the 2019 PMEA Middle School Song Fest. He has written articles “Meeting in the Middle: Developing a Middle School Music Program” and “The Art of Commissioning.”
Mr. Shomper received his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Millersville University and Master of Music in Performance, Choral Conducting at West Chester University.
