Adjunct Instructor of Music (Trombone)

John Loos serves on the music faculty at Albright as an adjunct instructor of trombone. For over 18 years, John has also been teaching elementary instrumental music in the Reading School District where he currently serves as head of his department and teaches between 180-200 students a year. John graduated Cum Laude in 1999 from West Chester University with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education.  He credits H. Lee Southall (trombone), Steve Shiffer (trombone) and Jimmy Amadie (jazz studies) as his teachers. John is a trombone player in the Reading and Philadelphia areas, having played countless events throughout the region.  He has performed with or has been a member of such acts as Big Ric Rising, Tribeca Grand, Jellyroll, The Dance Hall Docs and many more.  He is also a member of the Berks Horns and has appeared at the Berks Jazz Fest, the Dauphin County Jazz Festival and the Rehobeth Jazz Fest.  Along the long list of musicians with which John has collaborated includes such artists as Gerald Veasley, Rick Braun, Richard Elliott, Mindi Abair, Gerald Albright, Greg Karukas, Chuck Loeb, Brian Bromberg, Greg Adams, Jason Miles, The LA Chillharmonic, Billy Paul, and Brent Carter. John also serves as the co-leader of the Reading based jazz ensemble The Jazz 5 Pack.
