P. Sue Perrotty ’75

After a 27-year career in banking, P. Sue Perrotty retired as executive vice president and head of global operations for First Union Corp. in 2002. Following retirement, Perrotty served as chief of staff to former First Lady of Pennsylvania, Judge Marjorie Rendell from 2003-2007. From there, she became chief executive officer and owner of AFM Financial Services and BAC Services. She continues to serve as an independent consultant to several small businesses and entrepreneurs in the Pennsylvania and New Jersey area. She is also on several boards for American Realty Capital related entities.

Perrotty’s service to the Reading-Berks community is endless. She is currently the board chair at the Berks County Community Foundation, where she has been a member since 2009. She has been involved as a community volunteer on several levels, from chairing the dinner committee for the 2015 Richard J. Caron Award of Excellence to presenting at the 5th Annual Women’s Expo for the Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce & Industry. She has also served as a member of Our City Reading, Inc. and as a director of Philadelphia Hospitality, Inc. In 2013, she was co-chairwoman of the Olivet Boys & Girls Club’s Capital Campaign, and was the welcome speaker at the Small Business Development Center of Lehigh University’s 5th Annual Conference for Women. She has been named to Who’s Who of American Women, and as Outstanding Philanthropist for the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ Berks Regional Chapter. In addition, Perrotty has received numerous awards for community leadership and professional accomplishments including Pennsylvania’s 50 Best Women in Business during the Ridge administration, the Franciscan Award from Alvernia University, the Take the Lead Award from the Girl Scouts of America, and the Champion of Youth Award from the Olivet Boys and Girls Club. In 2016, she was honored with the Athena Award from the Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and in 2017, she served as the keynote speaker at the Chamber’s Women2Know event.

In January 2016, Perrotty was elected Albright trustee emerita. She served as a trustee from 1988-2008, and again from 2009-2015. She co-chaired Albright’s comprehensive campaign, Crossing Boundaries, which surpassed its original goal of $35 million, raising more than $43 million in five years. She also served as the chair of the board’s Finance Committee. In 2009, her commitment to the College was recognized when she was asked to be the speaker at Albright’s 150th commencement exercises, where she also received an honorary degree. In addition to her service as a trustee, Perrotty has been the vice chair of the Board of Visitors, an inaugural member of the Community Leaders Advisory Council (CLAC), a task force member on the Commission on the Future of Albright College, and has hosted several PASS Admission events. She has also served as a speaker at the Dearden Honor Society dinner, a participant in the Experiential Learning and Career Development Center’s “Bring Your Own Briefcase” event, and as an alumni admission interviewer. In 1992, Perrotty was honored with the Alumni Citation, which is equivalent to Albright’s current Distinguished Alumna Award. She and her husband, Craig, are also silver members of the J. Warren Klein Society.
