Peer Tutoring
Need a hand with your coursework? Peer Tutors are experienced students trained to help their peers succeed. Whether you’re preparing for an upcoming test or assignment or working on a paper, we’ve got your back. Some common reasons students use peer tutoring:
- Review course material & prep for tests
- Get writing support at any stage from brainstorming to final edits
- Develop and organize ideas for assignments or projects
- Learn new strategies for approaching course material
- Practice problems and apply what you’ve learned
- Improve your study habits and note-taking skills
- Polish your writing, grammar, style, and citation
- Understand challenging readings or course concepts
- Boost your confidence and stay on track academically
Appointments (in person or online) — available for 30- or 60-minute sessions through our appointment system. Online appointments have audio-video and type chat options.
Students can request meeting with a tutor weekly. Recurring sessions help to build a strong learning connection, set goals, and stay on track with your studies.
Emailed feedback for writing support — Tutors will provide margin comments to help you think through and clarify ideas, and resources to help you strengthen your own grammar and citation. This method is best for students unable to attend an in-person or online session. E-mailed feedback submission form must be submitted three or more business days before you need feedback.
Become a Peer Tutor
Peer tutors are viewed as academic leaders who are offered a unique opportunity to make a difference on campus. All peer tutors must meet the following minimum requirements: completion of at least two semesters at Albright, a B+ or higher in the course(s) one will tutor, faculty recommendation for each course, and good standing with the college. New tutors complete the College Reading and Learning (CRLA) Level 1 international certification. Available Peer Tutor positions are posted on Handshake.
