Telephone Use and Service

Instructions for using the college telephone system are located on the intranet under “Resources and Information.” Questions regarding the College telephone system should be directed to the ITS Help Desk at ext. 7676.


General Telephone Usage Policy

Faculty telephones should not be made available to students for their personal use. Student access to telephone service is provided by campus public telephones and Campus Center services.

Fax Services

Fax services are available in the academic buildings. Present your document(s) to the academic building secretary along with the appropriate information (fax number, password, etc.). You shall be notified upon receipt of a fax or successful transmission of your fax.

Telephone Maintenance and Repair

Maintenance, service and repairs of college-owned telephone equipment are the resonsibility of the ITS Department. Any problems or installations/modifications should be reported to the Information Technology Services Help Desk at ext. 7676. ITS is responsible for the jack and wiring costs for new phone installations. Any charges, modifications, improvements or new phone sets are the responsibility of the individual academic department and shall be appropriately charged.


Mail Procedures

The Campus Center Mail Room is located on the lower level of the Campus Center and provides interoffice mail service, as well as outgoing U. S. Postal service.  The mailroom hours are generally 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Interoffice campus mail envelopes should be used for interoffice correspondence and can be obtained from the Mail Room where accumulated “empties” should also be returned.

Packages should be wrapped and addressed using the Albright College mailing labels obtained from the Mail Room or from Kutztown Publishing.

Mail is dropped off and picked up twice a day Monday through Friday at various drop off/pick up designations in all the buildings on campus.  Normal drop off/pick up is between the hours of  9:00 and 11:15 in the morning and 1:00 and 3:30 in the afternoon.  Outgoing U.S. mail is taken to the post office around 3:45 pm Monday through Friday.

Mail being picked up should be separated as follows:

Interoffice mail or campus mail

First class U. S. mail by Reading, Berks County, other

Airmail and special delivery (appropriately marked)

International mail

All interoffice notices, flyers, etc., of a general nature must be in the Campus Center Mail Room by noon for “same day” box insertion.  Same day insertion is not guaranteed.

Mail addressed for selected students, regardless of the number of pieces, must have both the person’s name and campus center box number and be in box number sequence.

Stamps and postcards can be purchased at the Cashier’s window.
