Service Learning

Service learning is a form of experiential learning that allows students to test theories learned in the classroom, enhance problem-solving skills within a community environment, and work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.  Faculty-led reflection ties the service experience to principles, ideals, course content, and student transformation.

While the preparation involved in planning a service learning course is intense, the positive student outcomes are worth the effort.  Please contact the Experiential Learning and Career Development Center (ELCDC) to explore options related to your discipline.  We are here to help you make connections with the community, provide you with online and print resources, and brainstorm solutions that will turn your ideas and ideals into a meaningful project!
