CELG and BCW&SA Receive Environmental Award
Center for Excellence in Local Government and Berks County Water and Sewer Association Honored for Positively Impacting Pennsylvania’s Environment
The Berks County Water and Sewer Association, a community partnership at Albright College, has received a 2018 Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence. This award, presented to companies and organizations that positively contribute to the conservation of Pennsylvania’s environment, was presented at a dinner at the Harrisburg Hilton Hotel on Tuesday, April 24.
Paul Janssen, director of the Center for Excellence in Local Government, the parent organization to Berks County Water and Sewer Association, said, “I’m very proud of this award. We continue a tradition of intergovernmental corporation and have a strong communication between the 72 municipalities in Berks County.”
Chip Bilger, executive director of Western Berks Water Authority and chairman of the Berks County Water and Sewer Association, said the partnership with Albright College has been integral to the organization’s success. “Albright College has created a friendly facility for the Center of Excellence in Local Government to educate, inform, and come together to enhance all of the municipalities that are affected by the water and sewer in Berks County,” said Bilger.
Albright College provides facilities for the Berks County Water and Sewer Association, as well as internship opportunities for students with the organization.
