MISSION STATEMENT

The organization’s mission is to advance the theory and practice of the design, construction, maintenance, administration and operation of water and sewer services; disseminate information and share experiences to promote improved practices in water and sewer administration; expand local training opportunities, promote cooperation among water and sewer service providers and the economic development community; and encourage adherence by water and sewer officials to a continually higher standard.

Background

The Berks County Water and Sewer Association (BCWSA) is a nonprofit organization, created in 2013. The Association was initiated by a group of concerned municipal officials through the Berks Municipal Partnership, County of Berks Commissioners and Planning Commission, Center for Excellence in Local Government, water and sewer service providers, Greater Reading Economic Partnership and the economic development community.

Meetings of the Association are generally scheduled quarterly, are sponsored by businesses or the Association itself, and consist of a registration period, general business meeting, a program presentation and refreshments.

The program presentations are designed to bring new products and procedures to the attention of the members, new Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and other State, Multi-State and Federal regulatory agency regulations and programs, discussion of labor relations and employee contracts, discussion of operational techniques, opportunity for earning continuing education credits etc., and visitations to manufacturing and processing facilities, economic development opportunities, all of which are greatly beneficial and educational to our membership.


Laborer
Muhlenberg Township Authority is looking for a motivated individual with good mechanical skills for a general laborer / certified operator position in the water and sewer industry, with opportunities for advancement. The applicant will be required to join the Teamsters Local 429 Union upon completion of the required probation period. Applicants will be required to pass a preemployment physical exam and drug test. Applicant must have, or be willing to obtain a CDL Drivers License with all required endorsements within the required time as a condition of continued employment.

Water System Operator
The Water System Operator (W.S.O.) will perform a wide variety of maintenance duties required for the safe and reliable operation of the Antietam Valley water distribution system. Candidate(s) must possess a high school diploma with demonstrated computer skills. A valid PA driver’s license free of any suspension or repeated traffic violations is required.
