June 2017: June 27 is National HIV Testing Day

June 27th is National HIV testing day. The theme this year is Test Your Way. Do It Today. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 1.1 million people in the United States have the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and 1 in 7 are unaware that they have the virus. Young people are the most likely to be unaware of their HIV status. Knowing your HIV status is important to your health and it is recommended that people between the ages of 13 and 64 receive testing at least once as part of their routine healthcare. Please speak with your health care provider if more frequent testing is indicated for you. The Gable Health and Counseling Center offers HIV testing. If you are interested in testing on June 27th or on another chosen day, please call the health center at 610-921-7532 to schedule an appointment or to request additional information.

Remember, prevention is key, please take steps to protect yourself.
