Albright Named One of the Nation’s Top Private Fashion Design & Merchandising Schools
Reading, Pa. – Albright College has been named one of the top private fashion merchandising and fashion design schools in the nation by Fashion-Schools.org.
The website, which provides resources for students seeking information on fashion schools, recently released its 2018 rankings, naming Albright No. 15 on its national list of top private fashion merchandising schools, and No. 20 on its list of top private fashion design schools. Albright was also ranked among the top 50 of all colleges and universities—public and private—for fashion design.
This is the fourth consecutive year the fashion merchandising program has been ranked on this list, a testament to the dedication of the fashion faculty, said department chair Doreen Burdalski. “We combine rigorous study of the industry with a solid foundation in the liberal arts. And our students graduate with practical experience and an education that prepares them to successfully adapt to industry changes,” Burdalski said.
In its rankings, Fashion-Schools.org highlighted the opportunities that students have to study abroad in such fashion hubs as Italy, France, the United Kingdom and South Korea, as well as internship opportunities with well-established companies. Albright students have gained hands-on experience with Nordstrom, Anna Sui, Disney and many others.
Albright offers a number of fashion-related majors, including design and merchandising, fashion merchandising, fashion design and costume design. Students show off their talents each year during Albright’s Fashion Showcase and Runway Show, and graduates have gone on to work for such industry giants as Urban Outfitters, Calvin Klein and Under Armour.
In preparing its rankings, Fashion-Schools.org considered hundreds of schools in the United States that offer programs geared toward fashion design and fashion merchandising. Rankings are based on academic reputation, admission selectivity, depth and breadth of the program and faculty, value as it relates to tuition and indebtedness, and geographic location. The organization also incorporates school surveys into the information gathering and evaluation process.
Fashion-Schools.org has been publishing regional and national rankings since 2013 and Albright has been recognized each year by the organization.
