Albright Again Named One of the Most Ethnically and Economically Diverse Schools in the Nation

Reading, Pa. – Albright College has once again been named one of the most ethnically and economically diverse schools in the country by U.S. News & World Report.Albright College

In the “Campus Ethnic Diversity” category, as part of its 2018 Best Colleges rankings, U.S. News rated Albright with one of the highest diversity indexes among national liberal arts colleges. The College ranked 33rd out of 208 national liberal arts schools named.

In the “Economic Diversity” category, Albright ranked 27thout of 210 national liberal arts schools named.

Albright has sought to build a vibrant and inclusive community of learners from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities and experiences. The recently welcomed Class of 2021, for example, is about 50 percent ethnically/racially diverse.

“Albright College is pleased with the recognition offered by U.S. News & World Report,” said Paul M. Cramer ’88, vice president for enrollment and dean of admission. “The College’s diverse community contributes to the learning outcomes of our entire student body. Albright’s diversity is first and foremost a product of its safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.”

U.S. News’ ethnic diversity index, used to “identify colleges where students are most likely to encounter undergraduates from racial or ethnic groups different from their own,” factors in the “total proportion of minority students, leaving out international students, and the overall mix of groups.” The economic diversity ranking is based on the percentage of undergraduates receiving federal Pell Grants.

Albright was also recognized last year by U.S. News for its ethnic and economic diversity. In the 2017 Best Colleges rankings, Albright ranked 30th out of 219 national liberal arts colleges in the “Campus Ethnic Diversity” category, and ranked 21st out of 214 in the “Economic Diversity” category for national liberal arts schools.

Albright’s inclusion on the 2018 U.S. News lists comes on the heels of being named one of the best schools in the Northeast for the 14thconsecutive year by the Princeton Review.
