What’s Next?

Bob Spitz ’71 autographs copies of his book
during a visit to Albright in fall 2006.
In 2007, Bob Spitz ’71 will publish a young
adult version of the Beatles book called Yeah,
Yeah, Yeah. “It’s the sex, drugs and rock ‘n’
roll without the sex and drugs,” he says.
Also in the works is The Saucier’s
Apprentice, which will be released in
September 2007. “It’s about a guy who
hits his 50s, leaves New York after 35
years, leaves a book project after eight
and a half years, leaves a marriage after 14
years, winds up with custody of a 12-year old
daughter and has his heart broken,
perhaps for the first time in his life…I did
what any guy in that condition would do, I
ran away to Europe to learn how to cook.”
The book chronicles Spitz’s experience
at 16 of the greatest cooking schools in
France and Italy.
Spitz will also tackle a biography on
George Steinbrenner, a project that will
take about five years.
“They’re opening the entire Yankee
organization and files for me for the very
first time,” he says. In between, Spitz will
be working on a novel, the details of which
he won’t yet divulge.
“I love getting up every day and writing,”
Spitz says. “If I can do this for the rest
of my life I will be a happy bugger-roo!”
