President’s Council
Members Inducted into
Lifetime Giving Society

Members of Albright’s President’s Council were recognized for their outstanding support of the College at a dinner in October.

Inducted into Albright’s Lifetime Giving Society were Dorothy May Haas, Edwin & Alma ’51 Lakin, Andrew & June Taylor ’76 Maier, and Dr. Daniel Duwhan Yun & Rebecca Sungja Yun.

President’s Council members are alumni and friends who have contributed $1,000 or more in the past year. These donors represent only six percent of the individuals who gave to Albright last year, but their generosity accounted for 83 percent of the total non-bequest dollars received. The Lifetime Giving Society honors those whose cumulative lifetime giving exceeds $100,000.

Dorothy May Haas, whose business expertise spans some 47 years, was inducted into the Lifetime Giving Society because of her generous gift that will enhance the business education of countless Albright students. Her gift is being used to establish the second faculty chair in business at Albright College. Richard Aumen and Norman Dettra ’52 accepted the honor on her behalf.

Domino Players Invited to Region II Festival of the American College Theatre Festival

In January, the Domino Players production, Spirale, (originally titled The UBU Project), was one of only 11 shows invited to the Region II Festival of the American College Theatre Festival held at Muhlenberg College. Over 60 productions were evaluated across New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and Washington, D.C.

Spirale, which was performed in November at Albright, is an original theatrical collage created by Albright's Artist in Residence Jeffrey Lentz ’85, from the writings of Antonin Artaud, the characters of Alfred Jarry’s UBU Plays, and the music of composers Peter Tchaikovsky and Dmitri Shostakovich.

Collaborators on the production include designers Idalia Bernal, Wayne Vettleson and Nathan A. Roberts ’00, along with a cast of 20 student performers and a dozen student and alumni technicians and assistants.

Julia Matthews, associate professor and director of theatre, said of the production, “Jeff Lentz has been creating unique and beautiful music-theatre pieces at Albright for some years now. Spirale is perhaps his most ambitious work to date. I'm delighted that his inventive work and Albright's commitment to interdisciplinary creative thinking is finding a wider audience.”

Productions showcased at the regional festivals across the country are screened by a panel of three judges from the national committee for possible production at the national festival at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

Congratulations to Jeff Lentz, artist in residence,
for his grammy nomination!
