Sara Little ’02 expresses her appreciation
to donors of the Nancy Ratajczak-Shuman ’60 Memorial Scholarship
With three younger brothers at home for Mom and Dad to support,
Sara Little ’02 worried about coming up with the money to
pay for her applications to medical school; a dream she has had
since she was young. But with the help of the Nancy Ratajczak-Shuman
’60 Memorial Scholarship, Little’s worries were made
fewer.
Students had the opportunity to meet with and thank their donors
at the fifth annual Scholarship Luncheon held in November. Little,
the featured speaker, said: "There are no words that could
describe how truly honored I am. From reading about this extraordinary
woman and how dedicated she was to Albright, I am in great awe of
all of her accomplishments and to even be compared to her is an
honor within itself. I doubt I will match her character and integrity
as a woman, physician, and dedicated alumna but I will never cease
trying."
Ninety-six percent of traditional day students receive financial
aid at Albright. For the 2002-03 academic year, the College awarded
more than $13 million in Albright funds towards scholarship and
grant aid to support students.
Currently there are more than 200 endowed scholarship funds in
Albright’s portfolio. Scholarship endowments work to benefit
students and the College in perpetuity. Funds are often created
in the name of individual class years, a company or profession or,
more often, in memory of an individual.
For information on contributing to an existing endowed scholarship
fund, or establishing a new endowed scholarship fund, contact Jason
Ketter, associate vice-
president of development at 610-921-7500.
