| A Letter from the Alumni Association President |
| Dear
Albrightians,
I am in my last six months as president of your Alumni Association. I
have thought about the many years I spent on the Board and the Executive
Committee, and I have found what is truly significant about Albright -
the people. Its the people who make the difference:
the faculty, administration, alumni and students. Those alumni who know me realize my business took me all over the country
and to several neighboring countries. My time was the companys time.
However, in the early 90s Terry Conner 54 approached me and
asked if I would be willing to fill a vacancy on one of the committees
of our Alumni Board. Although my schedule was full, I appreciated the
opportunity to serve my alma mater. Albright provided the foundation for
my success; therefore, I consented and worked out my schedule so I could
participate. My interest and pleasure of serving led to additional committee responsibilities.
Again, it was the people who increased my enthusiasm and loyalty. It is
the trustees who continue to demonstrate leadership and service in their
commitment to Albright. It is the faculty, athletic coaches and administration
who display their pride in making Albright what we all know it is. It
is the alumni who invest time and money expressing their appreciation
for the outstanding education they received. And it is the students who
are the product of Albright and who will lead tomorrows world. I am hopeful that the alumni of Albright will consider volunteering.
Albright needs you to help the Association and our students. Even serving
in a small way is meaningful, rewarding, fun and memorable. We have built on the work of the past and present, launching many new
initiatives including:
The future is even brighter. While many alumni dinners, programs and
events are continuously being held around the country from Florida to
California, initiatives such as Albright license plates, a new alumni
directory and expanded online services are underway. Thomas Whites entrance as director of alumni relations has been
interesting, exciting and energized. This year Homecoming had a 59 percent
increase in alumni attendance. The pre-game parade had 20 percent more
participation from community members and the Alpha Pi Omega reunion had
the largest attendance of all past affinity reunions. To all of you, it has been a pleasure to serve Albright. I look forward to many of you becoming volunteers to ensure the future of Albright.
