William R. Kopp ’66, Jeanne Flickinger Person ’48 and Frank Suddock ’59 are Albright Athletics Hall of Fame’s Class of 2001.
Inducted at a dinner ceremony for alumni, family and friends during Homecoming weekend, Kopp, Person and Suddock bring to 53 the number of Hall of Fame inductees.

Dan Bonner, college basketball announcer and color analyst for ACC Regional TV network, ESPN and CBS Sports college basketball, was the featured speaker.

Kopp, a four-year letter winner in football and a three-year letter winner in baseball was named to the Middle Atlantic Football Conference All-Star team in 1964 and 1965. He was also voted Lineman of the Year in 1965.

Following graduation he coached Wilson High School baseball for 28 years, compiling a 326-170 record. This record included four Division I titles, two Berks County Championships, one District III title and an appearance in the 1988 PIAA Class AAA Championship. He also coached golf at Wilson for 24 years. He compiled a 270-81 record including six Berks County titles and three Division I titles.

Person was a talented and versatile athlete at Albright. A four-year member of the basketball, women’s tennis and softball teams, she received the first trophy presented by the Albright Ladies Auxiliary to a senior woman athlete in 1948. She also played field hockey for two years, was president of the Women’s Athletic Association, captain of the tennis team and co-captain of the basketball team.

Continuing to excel athletically, Person went on to win tennis tournaments in Peoria, Ill. in the 1970s and 80s, and won faculty tennis tournaments while teaching at Illinois Central College.

A four-year letter winner in football, Suddock was an Associated Press Little All-American team selection in 1956. He led the ECAC in forward passing and total offense in 1956 and completed 68 out of 158 passes during sophomore season for 990 yards. This led the nation in small college passing.
For 10 years he coached high school basketball at Exeter Township High School, in addition to junior high track, baseball and wrestling. Suddock is also a member of the Exeter Township School District Hall of Fame and the Berks County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Hall of Fame.

The 1979-1980 Men’s Basketball Team was also recognized at the dinner. With a 23-7 overall record, Elite 8 NCAA playoffs, and a Mid-Atlantic region win, the team reminisced about their successes as Albright College basketball players.
