Albright Choir Performs with Kenny Rogers to Sold-Out Crowd

Country legend Kenny Rogers brought holiday cheer to the Sovereign Center in Reading with the help of Albright’s 38-member choir.

To a sold-out crowd, the choir sang a medley of traditional tunes with Rogers including “Away in a Manger,” “O, Holy Night,” “Silent Night,” “The First Noel,” and “We Three Kings.” They also joined in on the final number of the first set, “Joy to the World.”

Choir Director Adlai Binger was overwhelmed by the experience. “It was a great opportunity for us and the most professional performance situation I have ever been in.” Binger added, “It was an especially positive experience for the students…a real confidence booster.”

Choir member Shanna McDermott ’03 was also excited by the opportunity, “It was, oh wow! It’s not like I grew up listening to Kenny Rogers, but I was so excited! There were so many people watching us. It was awesome!” She added, “In the final number when we went on stage with him we even got some standing ovations.”
