Albright’s Sesquicentennial Celebration!
October 2005 – December 2006

Albright College will be 150 years old in 2006. The College is gearing up to a 15-month celebration with a calendar full of “milestone” events, a series of Sesquicentennial stories, exhibits placed throughout campus highlighting the history of the College, its founding fathers and early faculty, and a fun history of Albright in photographs. Plus, an interactive Sesquicentennial web site will provide the opportunity to record your memories, find out what’s going on and more!

Sesquicentennial Kick-off Weekend include:

Friday, October 21
Opening ceremony with formal procession to Memorial Chapel, keynote address by Dale Yoder ’57 and a musical tribute.

Hall of Fame dinner honoring inductees Mike Eckenroth ’68, Norm Jowitt ’38, Barbara Stubenrauch Lightner ’84 and the undefeated 1960 Conference Championship football team.

Saturday, October 22
Members of the “13th Street Gang,” who went from elementary school through college on 13th Street, share memories over brunch and are invited to march in the Sesquicentennial parade featuring the Reading High Knights Marching Band and participants from all schools on 13th Street.

Arts Workshop for children ages 5 – 13. Make a mask and march in the parade!

Tailgate picnic with special reunion tents for the Classes of 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000 and the brothers of Kappa Upsilon Phi, celebrating 105 years since their founding.

Go Lions!
Sporting events including soccer, field hockey, cross-country and football. The Albright Lion football team challenges Fairleigh Dickinson on the turf in the newly renovated Shirk Stadium at 1 p.m.

Faces of Reading II at the Albright Community Cultural Center, Albright’s newest gallery space located in downtown Reading. Take a trolley ride to see 1,000 black and white digital portraits celebrating the diversity of the city by Albright history professor John Pankratz.

Reunion receptions both on- and off-campus for the Classes of 1985, 1990, 1995 and 2000, and the Kappa brothers.

Fireworks display after sundown – weather permitting!

Sunday, October 23
Milestone Chapel Service and Brunch – a celebratory worship service featuring Albright alumni clergy and student readers in Kachel Chapel, Teel Hall. All are welcome!
