Albright Learning Center
Moves into a Spacious
New Facility
With
a spacious and colorful new facility on Kutztown Road in Reading,
the Albright
Learning Center (formerly the Albright Child Development Center
located in Mohn Hall) has expanded its programs. The Center now
comprises the Albright Child Development Center, which offers quality
childcare with an emphasis on social development, and the Albright
Special Education School, a program for school-age special-needs
children from Berks County school systems.
In addition to housing classrooms for childcare,
preschool, full-day kindergarten, infant and toddler care (beginning
fall 2003) and special education, the centerpiece of the 10,500-square-foot
new facility is the "The Village," a large play area complete
with child-size storefronts perfect for imaginative play. The Center
also houses a library room with computer workstations.
Affiliated with Albright’s early childhood/elementary
education program, the various classrooms serve as training centers
for Albright College students. Early field experiences, student
teaching, class projects and research studies are several ways that
various departments on campus use the facility.
The Center is fully accredited by the National
Association for the Education of Young Children and licensed by
the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
