Rick Ferry Named Head Men’s Basketball Coach Sally Stetler and Rick Ferry

Rick Ferry spent five seasons as the mentor of the Juniata College men’s basketball program. He guided the Eagles through a series of rebuilding seasons. Following one of the best recruiting seasons in the history of the men’s basketball program on College Hill, he guided Juniata to an 11-13 overall mark and a 4-10 record in Commonwealth Conference play last winter. It marked the most victories for the blue and gold hardwood program since the 1991-92 unit went 12-13. In addition to his coaching duties, Ferry was the assistant director of athletics at Juniata.

Ferry came to Juniata from Susquehanna University in May of 1996 after serving seven years as an assistant coach

with the Crusader program. He also worked as the head junior varsity coach at Susquehanna and guided his 1995-96 team to a 10-3 record.

During Ferry’s time as an assistant with the varsity unit, the Crusaders compiled a record of 108-73. Susquehanna won the Middle Atlantic Conference title three times during his seven years on the staff and made two trips to the NCAA Division III men’s basketball tournament.
Ferry also worked full-time as the College’s controller and was a part-time lecturer in the accounting department.

A 1985 graduate of Susquehanna, Ferry earned four letters as a forward for the Crusaders from 1981-85, and captained the 1984-85 squad. He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and went on to earn his master’s degree of business administration in finance from Ohio University in 1989.

Bruce Moyer, friend of Albright, and Randy Kline, father of softball standout Shannon Kline ’03, were honored at the dedication of the newly renovated softball field. With the leadership of Coach Steve George ’68, who coordinated the renovation effort, Moyer and Kline donated hundreds of hours of their time, as well as their talents to building the dugouts, storage shed, press box and seating area on the field. Additional improvements include a new outfield fence, sound system and a batting cage.
