| In Memoriam Albright Professor Philip A. Eyrich ’58 |

Philip A. Eyrich, alumnus and professor of political science at Albright since 1964, died on June 29. Eyrich began his tenure at Albright as a student. After graduating in 1958 with a double major in political science and history, he went on to further his education at the Pennsylvania State University where he earned a masters degree in political science. However, in 1964 he returned to Albright as assistant professor of political science. In 1990 he was made a full professor. Eyrich also served in several other capacities at the College including assistant to the president for planning (1975-1986), coordinator of the self-study/re-accreditation process (1981-1983) and executive assistant to the president (1994-1999). |

He was also an integral member of the Marketing and College/Community Relations Task Force for Albright Colleges Commission on the Future. Prior to his employment at Albright, Eyrich served as an instructor in political science and coordinator of the African Center of Lincoln University in Oxford, Pa. While at Lincoln, he administered a federal contract designed to bring political refugees to the United States for college-level education. He is survived by his wife, Claire M. (Conley) Eyrich; a son Keith P. Eyrich; and three daughters: Mary B. Eyrich, Dallas, Texas; Erin C. Eyrich Snyder, Wernersville; and Kerry A. Eyrich, Palmyra, N.J. Other survivors include a sister, Gayle Eyrich Hartman, Macungie, Lehigh County, and four grandchildren. A memorial service was held in Merner Pfeiffer Klein Memorial Chapel. |
