New Director of Alumni
Relations Appointed
Following a national search, Megan
McGrath ‘06 has been appointed director
of alumni relations. McGrath has
served as assistant director of alumni relations since October
2006. As an Albright student, she worked as an ambassador
for the Admission Office and was actively involved with the
choir and Domino Players. She replaces Ted Isselmann ’01
who left in January 2008 to pursue a career in teaching.
“I look forward to the opportunity to continue my work
at Albright College and to enhance the alumni relations
program,” McGrath said. “As an alumna, I am proud to
represent my alma mater and am eager to implement the
Alumni Association’s newly created Strategic Plan. I will
continue to collaborate with various campus departments
and our diverse alumni population to connect alumni back
to alma mater. It’s a great time to be at Albright!’ |
Lynn S. Morrow Theatre Lobby Honors the Memory of a Teacher, Friend and Mentor
More than 100 family members, friends and
colleagues gathered in the Center for the Arts
in February to formally dedicate the renovated
Wachovia Theatre lobby as the Lynn S. Morrow
Lobby.
Morrow, professor emerita of English and
director of theatre since 1974, retired in 2002
and died in April 2004.
A teacher, mentor, colleague and friend to
many Albrightians, Morrow directed more than
100 productions from Shakespeare’s Romeo
and Juliet and other classics such as Medea, to
modern masterpieces such as The Curse of the
Starving Class and Our Town, to musicals such asA Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
and Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,
to the avant-garde, such as Happy Days and The
Boy Friend.
Among the highlights of her career was the
performance of Edward Albee’s The Man Who
Had Three Arms at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe,
Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1989.
At the dedication ceremony, Albright President
Lex McMillan said, “Although I did not have
the good fortune to know Lynn, I’ve been told
that she could perhaps best be described as a
powerful force—personally, professionally and
to the many students that she taught, mentored,
influenced and supported over the years…Lynn’s untiring and uncompromising passion for theatre
earned the respect of all she met.”
Others, including Newton Perrin, Ph.D.,
professor of German and art history; Aubrey
Glave ’09, recipient of the Lynn S. Morrow
Memorial Scholarship; Wayne Vettleson, assistant
professor of theatre and technical director;
Richard Androne, Ph.D., professor of English;
and Michelle Morrow, D.M.D. ’81, daughter of
Lynn Morrow, echoed the same sentiments in
their remarks.
Following the dedication ceremony, guests
attended the Domino Players’ production of
Anthony Burgess’ A Clockwork Orange directed
by Jeffrey Lentz ’85. |
