The women’s basketball team made their first-ever appearance in the
NCAA Tournament in March. However, a loss to Mount St. Mary brought
an end to the most successful women’s basketball season in school
history. In addition to the trip to the NCAA Tournament, they won a
school-record 20 games. Jackie Hardwick ’08 became the 10th women’s
basketball player in school history to score 1,000 points in a career. Hardwick,
Meredith Berger ’08, Staci Waligorski ’08 and Jen DePrau ’08 leave Albright with 57 career wins, the highest total of any class to date.
Women’s basketball head coach Janice (Johnson) Luck ’96 was honored as the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic
Region Division III Coach of the Year.
The men’s team ended their season with a record of 17-9, after
losing to Gwynedd-Mercy in the ECAC Division III South Region Championship.
Albert Medoro ’08 was named the Commonwealth Conference
Men’s Basketball Player of the Year, and was named to the All-Conference
First-Team. He is the first Lion to be named the Commonwealth
Player of the Year since the 1999-2000 season, when Shawn Swavely ’00 was awarded this honor. |
