History in the Making

Albright College will be 150 years old in 2006. Save the date for our Sesquicentennial Celebration kick-off during Homecoming, October 23, 2005.

The Sesquicentennial Celebration, which will run from Homecoming 2005 through December 2006, will feature “milestone” events, a series of sesquicentennial stories, a website and a fun history of Albright in photographs.

Stay tuned for more information in upcoming issues of The Albright Reporter. The July edition will include a full calendar of Sesquicentennial Celebration events.

Remember the 70s?

In 1975, Reading 1974: Portrait of a City, a feature-length documentary in 16 mm., was produced by Gary Adlestein, associate professor of English and art, Costa Mantis ’74 and Jerry Orr ’60.

After its premiere in Reading, the film was shown at major film festivals, media venues such as the Museum of Modern Art in NYC, and PBS stations all over America.

Time has enhanced this work making it a veritable time capsule of the way things were in the 70s, and more significantly, the way they were in that unique corner of the world called Reading.

A 30th Anniversary DVD edition of the film is now available to Albright alumni and friends at a reduced price of $18 (plus $3 shipping). For orders or more information, contact Gary Adlestein at 610-921-7713 or gadlestein@alb.edu.
