Albright Honors
President's Council Members

At the fourth annual President's Council Dinner on October 7, 2000, Edith Morrow Brown Douds, Ph.D., emerita professor of French, was welcomed into the Lifetime Giving Society by President Zimon. The Reverend William Marlow '49, emeritus professor of religion, accepted the honor on her behalf. Douds and her late husband John Boal Douds, emeritus professor of English, were tireless workers in their service to Albright College. They were equally as tireless in their financial support.

Citing the Douds' lifelong commitment and love of Albright, friends established the Robert Calvin Douds Memorial Scholarship Fund, in memory of the Douds' late son.

To perpetuate their support of Albright, the Douds named the College and the Robert Calvin Douds Memorial Scholarship Fund sole beneficiaries of their estate. Edith also gave her home, now a faculty residence, to the College.

The President's Council Dinner recognized those individuals whose outstanding support has been critical to Albright's continued growth. President's Council members are individuals who have contributed $1,000 or more in the past year. Since 1996, membership has increased more than 100 percent to 253 persons.
