Five New Faculty Join the Albright Family

Lawrence P. Morris, Ph.D., of Cambridge, England, has joined Albright as assistant professor of English.

Morris previously served as a supervisor of studies at Cambridge University’s Fitzwilliam College. He has also taught English and literature courses at the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay, and was a teaching fellow at Harvard University.

Morris is fluent in several languages including all periods of English and Irish, as well as Latin and Italian. He can read French, classical Greek, German, Old Norse and Old Saxon, and has presented papers at several conferences including the Annual Convention of the Modern Language Association and the International Medieval Congress, University of Leeds.

Morris received his doctorate in comparative literature from Harvard University.

Ian J. Rhile, Ph.D., of Seattle, Wash., has been appointed assistant professor of chemistry and biochemistry. His research interests include mechanistic details of organic and inorganic reaction, including organometallic reactions.

Rhile previously served as a research associate, laboratory instructor, undergraduate mentor and instructor of general chemistry at the University of Washington.

He earned a doctorate in chemistry from Cornell University.

Robert L. Routhieaux, Ph.D., of Asheville, N.C., has joined Albright as associate professor and has been appointed the William E.C. and Mary Dearden endowed chair in business management.

Prior to joining Albright, Routhieaux was a professor and chair of the business and economics department at Warren Wilson College in Asheville, N.C., where he guided a complete redesign of curricula in business and economics and developed programs in entrepreneurship/small business management and non-profit management.

In addition, he served as an instructor in the non-profit management certification program at Duke University. Prior to teaching at Warren Wilson College, he taught at Western Carolina University where he received the J.I. Kneedler Professor of Excellence Award.

He received a doctorate in management from the University of Arizona.

Joseph Yarworth, Ph.D., of Reading, Pa., has been appointed assistant professor of education.

Yarworth served as superintendent of the Muhlenberg School District for the last nine years and taught as an adjunct in Albright’s Education Department since 1995.

Prior to joining Muhlenberg, he served as superintendent for Schuylkill Valley School District, and taught graduate courses at Bucknell University and Lehigh University. Yarworth served on the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Program Evaluation Team for Lehigh University, Immaculata College and LaSalle College.

He received his doctorate in educational administration from the University of Connecticut.

José Sanchez San Roman of Seville, Spain, joins Albright as visiting professor of Spanish.

Roman has taught Spanish to American students at the Center for Cross-Cultural Studies in Seville, Spain, since 1986.

He also taught at Gettysburg College through an exchange program in 1990-1992. His academic interests include the co-existence of three cultures, Muslim, Jewish and Christian, in Medieval Spain, and the ancient Mediterranean world.

Roman has studied in both England and the United States, and received a master’s degree in American studies from the University of Cádiz in Spain.
