Albright Receives $200,000 Grant to Plan
New Science Center

Pennsylvania State Senator
Michael A. O’Pake presented a check
for $200,000 to Albright College to support the design and construction
of a planned new Science Center for Albright. The grant, presented
to Albright president Henry A. Zimon on August 25, represents funding
O’Pake secured in the 2002-2003 Pennsylvania
state budget. The Science Center is currently planned to be about 80,000 square
feet and estimated to cost more than $20 million. The state grant
enabled the College to begin the preliminary design phase of the
project. No date has been set for groundbreaking.
According to Zimon, the
new building will support the College’s
interdisciplinary focus, with an innovative design that supports
both faculty and students in the exchange of ideas and information
and instrumentation among the scientific disciplines. |
