Reading, Pa.- As a part of a year-long celebration of “Women in the Arts,” Albright College will host “Glacier Soundscapes” by Jill Haley on November 6, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. in Roop Hall, Center for the Arts. The performance is free and open to the public.
This multi-media concert event is the world premier of Jill Haley’s latest collection of original works for oboe, English horn, piano and guitar, composed in response to a visit to Glacier National Park.
After graduating from Temple University, Haley formed the trio, One Alternative, with two guitarists. They have created six CDs and performed around the country over the last 20 years. Haley draws on the improvising skills she developed accompanying folk singer Kevin Roth when composing and creating solos in One Alternative's music.
This year Albright’s Center for the Arts celebrates “Women in the Arts.” The center has chosen to focus this season – 90 years after women in America received full enfranchisement – on women and the arts to explore gender as both a potential limitation and source of inspiration in theatre, music, fashion and visual arts.
The Center for the Arts is located on the Albright College campus at 13th and Bern Streets, Reading, Pa. For more information or disabled assistance, please call 610-921-7526, or visit www.albright.edu/centerforthearts.
