Reading, Pa. -- The departments of Theatre and Modern Foreign Languages at Albright College will show a film on French playwright Molière on Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at 6:30 p.m., followed by a discussion on the film and his work. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place in Albright College’s Klein Lecture Hall.

The film, created by Laurent Triard, explores the early years of the playwright, Molière, before he was famous by imagining what his life might have been like.  In the process, the film illuminates 17th-century French culture and society by considering topics that continue to be relevant today such as class, money, love and art. After the film, professors Arcana Albright, Ph.D. of the French department and Julia Matthews, Ph.D., of the Theatre department will lead a discussion on the film and Molière’s life and work. The film is in French with English subtitles.

For more information about the event or disabled assistance, please contact Julia Matthews, Ph.D., at 610-921-7660.  Klein Lecture Hall is located on the Albright College campus at 13th & Bern Streets, Reading, Pa.
