College to Hold Discussion on French Art Song
in Celebration of French Week

Reading, Pa. -- The departments of Music and Modern Foreign Languages at Albright College will host an informal discussion on the works of, French composer Gabriel Faure on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at 4 p.m. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place in Albright College’s Roop Hall.

Faure, an early 20th century composer, was known for his French impressionism and Symbolist poetry.  Jeffery Lentz, artist-in-residence at Albright, Elisabeth Turchi, soprano; Rebecca Butler, professor of music at Albright; and Arcana Albright, Ph.D., assistant professor of French at Albright, will discuss Faure’s music, including the poetry, the composition of the songs and the process of preparing songs for performance.
