Albright Instructor and Author of a New Book on Migraines
to Speak at the Pennsylvania Women’s Expo
Reading, Pa. - Marian Wolbers (pen name Marian Frances Ordway), instructor of English as a Second Language at Albright College, will present a talk on migraine headaches and healing on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at 3 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Women’s Expo. The expo will be held at the Riveredge in Reading, Pa. Talks and exhibits are free and open to the public from noon to 5 p.m. A book signing will be held following Wolbers’ session.
The talk, “Me, the Migraine and That Person in the Mirror,” is taken from a chapter in Wolbers’ newest book, Migraine: Pain of the Body, Cry of the Spirit, a book that addresses deep-seated, underlying origins of the migraine problem as a misalignment of body-mind-spirit.
For more than 20 years Wolbers suffered from excruciating migraines that at times struck every day for three months straight. She was even hospitalized in 1986 for the disease. But it wasn’t until 1989 that her health began to change and slowly improve. “I found a way to heal,” Wolbers said.
Included in her book are practical tools: the seven-day mental diet; proven meditation techniques; therapeutic journaling; and other migraine prevention approaches. It is written with a sense of sharing and love for all who suffer with migraine headaches—especially women, who are three to four times more likely to get migraines, making up the vast majority of the 29.5 million Americans suffering from this debilitating ailment.
