Author of Sex and the Soul to Discuss Struggles Faced by College Students Reading, Pa. –Author Donna Freitas, Ph.D., will present a lecture, “Sex and the Soul,” based on her book, Sex and the Soul: Juggling Sexuality, Spirituality, Romance and Religion on America’s College Campuses, on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at 7 p.m. The lecture will be held in Klein Lecture Hall, Center for the Arts, and is free and open to the public. “Sex and the Soul” is comprised of dozens of candid interviews with college students from across the country. The students interviewed attend public, private, Christian and Evangelical schools, and their stories show the struggles that young men and women face on college campuses. Freitas is an assistant professor of religion at Boston University. She received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Georgetown University and a doctorate in religion from Catholic University. She is a regular contributor to Beliefnet, The Washington Post and Newsweek’s “On Faith” panel. She wrote the book Becoming a Goddess of Inner Poise: Spirituality for the Bridget Jones in All of Us.
