Move over Dunkin’ Doughnuts!  Step aside, Starbucks!   Jake’s Java has come to Albright! 

Rumored to have been in the works for over a decade, Albright’s own coffee cart finally served its first French roast in October, bringing a steady source of caffeine to students and staff alike.  Located in the hub of it all, Albright’s own Campus Center, Jake’s Java strives to offer the college a range of delicious and healthy food and beverage options, including a wide variety of coffees from the award-winning, locally owned and operated Reading Roasters.  Popular flavors include Jamaican Me Crazy and Southern Pecan, while seasonal and holiday offerings like Chocolate Truffle add a hint of whimsy to the coffee cart experience.        

Jake’s Java also offers an array of options for the non-coffee drinkers.  Smoothies and Frappes with delicious names like Strawberry Slamajama and Loca Mocha Frappe are blended fresh and made to order using only the finest ingredients.  And the menu doesn’t stop with beverages.  Paninis and wraps are prepared and grilled on site, while a delectable sampling of brownies, scones, and cinnamon buns entice from the pastry case. 

Jake’s Java is the brain child of Timothy R. Byerly, Dining Services Operations Manager, who keeps the campus community informed of the goings on at Jake’s with regular emails, which include fun facts about coffee, short stories and jokes.  His efforts to make Jake’s Java the perfect after class hangout have paid off; there is almost always a line snaking though the campus center of student, faculty, and staff eager for their caffeine fix.  And a frequent buyer’s card lets Jake’s Java junkies earn points towards a free beverage with the purchase of every smoothie and macchiato.  In short, Jake’s Java is the new campus hot spot!
