Profile:
By Mindy Cohen, WXAC Station Manager and Andrew Harris, Program
Director
WXAC 91.3 FM is a student-run organization on Albright's
campus. We are an eclectic group of people, but we have several
things in common- our passion for music, our love of communication,
and our commitment to sharing that passion and love with
our community, both on and off campus.
Because we are a college station and don't have to answer
to sponsors, we are able to play a diverse range of music
-- from metal to reggae, hip hop to alternative rock, and
everything in between.
We have an executive board made up of 10 students who handle
the day-to-day running of the station and set policy.
Our on-air DJ's are volunteers and students here at Albright
(although we do have some DJs from the Reading community
and even a beloved professor or two). All of our DJ's receive
on-air training, and any student is welcome to join us.
WXAC has been going through a period of rejuvenation. In
2002 we bought new CD players and had our FM monitors recalibrated.
In 2003 we bought equipment for sports broadcasting and broadcast
our first football game in years.
WXAC has hired a crack team of engineers to handle technical
issues, and they recently rewired our entire studio. Our
console, tower, microphones, turntables, etc. are working
much better, and our station's sound is incredible.
We have lots of major improvement projects in the pipeline.
Incoming students can expect bigger and better things with
each semester at Albright.
