Collection Development Policy
The main purpose of the Special Collections Department is to support the curriculum of Albright College and to provide access to teaching and learning resources, making available and accessible primary sources to undergraduate students.
Collection strengths include rare books in good condition published in America before 1840; Reading imprints; books of local historical interest; Union Seminary Press, New Berlin, PA; Evangelical Church. Selected areas of focus are American history; Pennsylvania history, limited editions.
The overarching objective of Special Collections is to serve as a teaching/learning resource, offering accessibility of original and primary sources to undergraduate students. The goal is to collect effectively across many disciplines to encourage the use of rare imprints in a broad range of intellectual areas.
