Collections

The main purpose of the Special Collections Department is to support the curriculum of Albright College and provide access to teaching and learning resources, making available and accessible primary sources to undergraduate students.

The Photograph Collection

The photograph collection has approximately 40,000 images dating from the 1890s from Union Seminary and Central Pennsylvania College at New Berlin, Schuylkill Seminary at Fredericksburg, Schuylkill College at Reading, and Albright College at both Myerstown and Reading. The images depict events, student activities, the campus, traditions, and members of the college community.

Reading/Berks County Collection

Largely a collection of books concerning county, town, school, political and church history. Also included are books by local authors.

Byron Vazakas Collection

Byron Vazakas (1905-1987) was a major poet of Reading and the collection includes many of his manuscripts and published works.

Pennsylvania Dutch

The materials in this collection include publications about the Pennsylvania Germans, and examples of Pennsylvania German language, art, literature, and music.

Evangelical United Brethren Church

Mostly a collection of conference proceedings, journals, and yearbooks of the Evangelical Association, the Evangelical United Brethren Church, and the United Methodist Church from the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference, Central Pennsylvania Conference and some materials from the Westen Pennsylvania Conference.
