Reserve Department Policy

Mission Philosophy

To complement our own collection, Albright College Library's Circulation Department offers a reserve service for faculty wanting to make personal, photocopied, electronic or other resources easily and equitably available to all of their students for short term loan.

NOTE: As with the circulation records of libraries, reserve circulation information is confidential.

    Objectives

  1. Materials will be processed in a timely manner, housed carefully to preserve them, and produced promptly upon request.
  2. The Reserve Department will abide by the copyright guidelines of U.S. Public Law PL 94-553 and any other copyright laws and guidelines. Please note: Copyright regulations are often stricter for library reserves than for classroom copying, thus the restrictions on reserve may not apply to classroom copying, which is governed by Fair Use Guidelines.

Service Priorities

  1. To make available materials assigned as required reading for an entire class
  2. To make available special materials for visiting speakers, experience courses, college-wide seminars, accreditation visits, etc.
  3. To make available specialty materials available on a Permanent Reserve status.
