Orange Divider Graphic Borrowing Materials

The college ID card is also your library card. You will need your library card for all circulation transactions, including reserves. You are welcome to borrow books from the circulating collection for a loan period of 112 days; periodicals and reference books for use in class; and media and best selling books for 2 weeks. Most items can be renewed in person for another borrowing period. Items may be recalled from faculty if they are needed desperately by another faculty or an Albright student, depending upon the patron's need.

Your family members will also be issued ID cards that will entitle them to borrow 6 items at a time from the collection. There may be some restrictions on their use of the card. See library circulation guidelines for more details.

The Albright Library's online catalog does have materials listed in it from other campus departmental libraries. These items are available for your use but must be obtained from the department. They decide the borrowing terms for their materials.

Orange Divider Graphic Reference Assistance
If you are having difficulty locating materials needed for your classes or professional research, contact the Reference Desk at (610-921-7211) or your liaison librarian. We will also work individually with your students to help them identify appropriate research tools, plan effective research policies, and critically analyze resources found. Reference librarians are scheduled for desk duty Monday through Friday from 9 am - 4:30 pm and on Monday through Thursday from 6:30 - 9:30 pm. Anyone needing reference assistance at other times should call the Reference Desk, and your call will be referred to the first available staff member.

Orange Divider Graphic InterLibrary Loan

Our goal is to help you locate and borrow any materials you need that we do not own at Albright. At present, there are no charges for ILL and we usually can obtain the materials you want in 2 weeks or less. If speed is of the essence, talk to a Reference Librarian (610) 921-7211 for more assistance. Faculty are not regularly limited by the number of loans they can submit, although for large numbers of loan requests we ask you to concentrate submitting them during the times that are low use for your students, e.g., summer, Interim, beginning of semester, etc.

At Albright we use the ILLiad system to request and monitor ILL requests. Most databases have an automatic illiad icon link but you can request a loan by typing it into your account at ILLiad at Albright. Contact Pat Brosenne at (610) 921-7212 for more assistance.

The Library provides access to over 100 databases, including most of the major journal indexes and several of the prominent full text sources. While most of them are available to you, the librarians also have access to the wide range of resources available through DIALOG. The major online resources are listed on the Gateway to Library Resources website and a complete database list is available online
