The Gateway to Library Resources web page (http://www.albright.edu/library/resource.html) is the gateway to all of the electronic resources provided by the Gingrich Library. Check out the following subject help page for more subject specific assistance:
If you are working on the Reading campus, click the link provided with each resource. If you are working from anywhere else, click on the remote user login here or at the bottom left of the resource page and follow the instructions. You must have a valid Albright College photo ID to use these resources remotely [which involves getting the card from the Office of Public Safety and the library barcode from the Library Circulation Desk.]
Finding High Quality Journal and Newspaper Articles - Subscription Databases and the Gateway to Library Resources web page
The library subscribes to databases and electronic resources in a variety of subject areas. When you access these databases found on our website, you are NOT searching the unrestricted Internet. These resources provide citations to pertinent popular and scholarly magazine and journal articles, and in many cases the full-text of the items is available. These materials are subscribed to (and paid for) by Albright College to ensure that you have access to worthwhile, dependable information for your research.
Many journals provide their full text information, either as .html (viewable as a web page) or .pdf (viewable with Adobe reader) since the late 1980s. If you check the online journal list to verify that we do not have the article in our print collection or online in full text, request the item via Interlibrary Loan. Remember: You must access these resources by logging in as a remote user (see above) if you are working off campus.
Some remote users have difficulty connecting to our resources from their workplace. In order to ensure computer security, businesses frequently use firewalls which can interfere with our remote access computer. If you can connect successfully from home but not from work, please discuss the problem with your employer's IT department. All other problems with accessing our resources should be referred to the library Reference Desk at 610-921-7211, 1-888-253-8851 or libraryref@alb.edu.
