Software -

Operating System -

If you are bringing a Windows-based PC, the operating system should be Vista or XP. Any current version of these operating systems is acceptable.

If you intend to bring a Mac, you should make sure that you have the 10.4 version or greater loaded onto your computer.

Anti-Virus Software -

An antivirus program that has regular updates enabled is required to access the Albright network (internet connection). The Albright computer registration site will offer you a free copy of Norton Anti-virus to be installed on your computer at the time that you register your computer (computer registration can only occur from your residence hall room). If you prefer, you may run any leading-brand anti-virus package that you choose as long as it has regular updates that are applied. If you are going to load the free copy of Norton Anti-Virus that Albright is offering, you must remove all trial copies or permanent copies of any other anti-virus first.

Other Software -

You will need a copy of Microsoft Office You should have Office 2007, if you have a Windows-Based computer or Office 2008, if you have a Mac. Be aware that the price of this software varies greatly from place to place. The suggested retail pricing can be as high as $599. We have arranged for you to be able to to purchase software at steep discounts (up to 85% off) at www.journeyed.com/select You will need to provide them with identification. They have accepted a faxed copy of the "Letter of Acceptance" in the past.

The rest of the software that you have on your computer will be up to you, although peer-to-peer connections that download illegal music are not permitted.
