New Faces in IT Services

Rebecca Suiter

Rebecca Suiter

Rebecca joined the team this summer as the newest Technology Solutions Specialist.  She graduated with a degree in Computer Science from Longwood University in May 2016.  In her spare time she enjoys doing martial arts and exploring a new home town with her husband.

Stephen Benvenuto

Stephen Benvenuto

Stephen also joined the team this summer. He brings with him a background in Computer Forensics from his studies at Bloomburg University. When not at the Help Desk, you might find Stephen on the green teeing off for a round of golf.

Andrew Dell

Andrew Dell

Andrew returned to Albright as one of the new Help Desk Analysts. He is an alumnus of the Theatre and English programs at Albright and has pursued further certification in technical troubleshooting and support. When he isn't troubleshooting technical troubles, he is training at Aikido West Reading.

Windows 10

All classroom and lab computers (except Macs) have been upgraded to  Windows 10.

We have put together some documentation to help you adjust to the biggest changes transitioning to Windows 10 here

You may notice that as you log into different computers across campus, you will have to wait as Windows builds a profile for you on that computer. We know that this takes some time the first time you use this computer, and we appreciate your patience as you experience this as you begin accessing the computers across campus again.

Upgrade to Microsoft Office 2016

We have upgraded all classroom and lab computers to Microsoft Office 2016. This will allow for better integration with Office365 and collaborating online. We will be working through the semester to upgrade all Faculty and Staff computers. You can visit this page to learn more about the project and how to receive your upgrade. We have put together some notes about the most notable changes you may experience. You can also find some useful information from Microsoft at their article here.

Wireless

We have installed new Aruba Access Points in the residential halls and the administrative offices along Linden Street. Some of the wireless network names have changed, as well as the password for Albright-PSK. Check out the new Sharepoint site for more information about this and other aspects of Albright Wireless/

Firewall

In order to better secure our network, we have replaced our network firewall this summer. You should not notice any changes from this, but the settings of this device could block sites to which you previously had access. Some users reported trouble loading videos to Kaltura following the installation of the firewall, and we were able to address this issue. If you experience any issues connecting to Kaltura or another site or service that you regularly used in the spring, please let us know, and we can investigate whether the new firewall might be blocking this site or service.

We, the staff of Albright College Information Technology Services strive to provide timely, seamless information services and technology support to our campus community.  We would love to hear from you at the number or emails to the right if you have comments or suggestions.
