Dear
Master’s Degree Candidate,
Albright College
is proud and happy to welcome you to our first graduate degree program.
We are particularly excited about this Master’s degree program
in Education because Albright has been involved in teacher preparation
for many years. Now we have an opportunity to build on our success
at the undergraduate level and expand into an even more challenging
realm of research and theoretical inquiry.
We have built
our graduate program on a theme of reflective practice; our goal
is to integrate the rich store of experience which our candidates
bring with them into a research based investigation of best teaching
practice. We shall seek at the graduate level to ask not only “how”
but “why”, to examine current teaching practice and
effect positive change. In keeping with the tradition and mission
of Albright College, we have infused into this graduate program
a liberal arts strand. Our arts and sciences faculty will be offering
courses in their disciplines designed to expand our thinking and
enrich our content base.
Also in keeping
with Albright College tradition, we have developed program options
which will provide for individual needs of our graduate students.
Four different concentrations are available; initial or additional
teacher certifications can be integrated into Master’s degree
course offerings; the capstone research piece can be based on classroom
teaching experience or take the form of a more traditional thesis;
qualified candidates can enter the program at the graduate level
or follow a sequential, uninterrupted bachelor’s/master’s
program.
Albright graduate
faculty look forward to working individually with our graduate students.
We will mentor you through the program, engage you in courses which
model a constructivist approach to pedagogy, and serve as advisors
to your research projects.
Your success
is our ultimate goal.
Welcome and
best wishes!
Sincerely,
Sarel
