The Dining Hall

The Dining Hall is the main dining facility for all students. Faculty, staff, administrators and guests are welcome to eat in the Dining Hall.

Hours of operation have been established to coordinate with the scheduling of classes and to provide for the effective and efficient delivery of food service. They are therefore subject to change based on the changing needs of our department and the academic and co-curricular activities of the College.


New this year!

We are pleased to introduce a new program that will allow students access to the Dining Hall for individual and group study when meals are not being served. This is a pilot program, but we hope that it will become permanent.

The area will be located in a roped off section on the right hand side of the Dining Hall near the windows facing Sylvan Pond.

Hours of operation, which are scheduled to occur after breakfast, lunch and dinner, are:
Monday-Friday • 9:30-10:30 a.m. • 2:15-4:15 p.m. • 7:45-9:45 p.m.


The Dining Hall Menu

Our selections are based on a six-week cycle menu and crafted to provide the highest quality of food with a focus on excellent customer service.

BREAKFAST

We offer a hot breakfast buffet consisting of scrambled eggs, French toast or pancakes, breakfast meat, potato and hot cereal. We have a "made to order" omelet station Sunday thru Friday, including egg beaters. A variety of cold cereals, bagels, toast, fresh pastries, whole fruit, and fresh cut fruit are available all the time. A make-your-own waffle station is available at all meal times. We offer 100 percent fruit juices, whole milk, two percent milk, skim milk, soy milk, lactose free milk, freshly ground coffees, teas, and many other beverage alternatives throughout each meal period.

LUNCH

Aprons Food Station serves a choice of two to three homestyle entrées, vegetarian entrée, grilled cheese, hot vegetable and French fries.

Little Slice of Italy Station serves an assortment of oven-baked pizzas, including a vegetarian and daily special. Served to order pasta with a selection of sauces are available with a daily bread such as focaccia, bread sticks, garlic bread, fresh baked loaves, or baguettes served with bruschetta. Each lunch we provide a gluten-free alternative such as rice pastas, garden vegetable lasagna, and our gluten/lactose-free pizza, which is a favorite.

Change of Pace Station offers hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, French fries and a daily sandwich specialty. On Wednesday's the Change of Pace becomes a specialty bar with menu offerings like tacos, steak sandwiches, roasted sliced turkey with all the trimmings and a Mexican bar.

Deli Bar serves an assortment of Berks County's finest deli meats, cheeses, breads, rolls, pita pockets and tortilla wraps. This bar has all the fixin's to make hoagie lovers dreams come true.

Green Acres Salad Bar has an exceptional variety of the finest quality of greens, vegetables, and salad toppings available along with a selection of 12 salad dressings designed to accommodate the tastes of everyone.

Vegetarian, Soup & Baked Potato Bar is available daily and provides two handmade soups each day, one being vegetarian. The baked potato bar complements the salad bar to create a healthful option for your dining experience. Everyday we offer a daily vegetarian delight special.

Specialty Sandwich or Salad Bar brings our culinary professionals right out to you every Tuesday and Thursday to provide you with that prepared to order special that you can grab and go during your busy day.

DINNER

Aprons offers homestyle comfort foods such as fried chicken, hand carved New York strip steaks, fresh broiled fish, roasted turkey, grilled fresh breast of chicken, etc. Each dinner on the Aprons line is accompanied with steamed vegetables, rice or potato, and fresh baked dinner rolls.

Little Slice of Italy features served to order pastas and three sauces such as a marinara, meat, pesto, alfredo or white clam sauce. There is also a prepared pasta dish (lasagna, stuffed shells, manicotti, chicken tortellini with spinach, etc.) served with fresh baked breads. We offer gluten-free and/or lactose-free alternatives as well.

Wok Station is a cook to order stir-fry. We offer a variety of fresh vegetables, stir-fry sauces, choice of beef, chicken, shrimp, salmon or tofu. Rice and lo-mein noodles are always available for you to create your favorite dish.

Change of Pace features specialty theme bars such as wing bar, seafood bar, BBQ bar, Sunset Strip chicken bar, breakfast bar, international bar, etc.

Vegetarian Station offers three daily vegetarian entrées, a vegetarian soup du jour, and a baked potato to go hand-in-hand with the salad bar. Our award-winning recipes are made fresh daily with the finest ingredients.

Salad Bar accommodates the likes of all. All produce is hand washed and prepared with the highest standards of quality. Our soups are prepared with the finest ingredients and are made fresh daily. One soup is always vegetarian.

If sweets are your thing, you'll love our Dessert Bar. Our bakery department creates delicious cakes, pies and pastries every day. Soft serve ice cream, soft serve frozen yogurt, and a choice of eight hand-dipped ice creams with assorted toppings are available every day.


Theme Dinners

Dining Services takes great pride in the Specialty Theme Dinners offered each semester. We bring different cultures to you through authentic menu development and the transformation of the Dining Hall to provide a unique dining atmosphere. Some of our theme meals include: Hawaiian, South Western, New England Thanksgiving, Traditional Christmas, Mardi Gras, Australian and Beach Party. We also do several mini-themes during the school year on our Change of Pace bar such as German, Polish, Mediterranean, Caribbean, Mexican, Korean, soul food, etc. We also invite and encourage students of other cultures to coordinate events with Dining Services. We will assist you in any planning, preparation and service delivery of any cultural dining experience that has approved funding through SGA.
