Advocate to the Accused Student or Complainant

Both the complainant and the accused student will be assigned an Advocate who will present at the hearing for Community Standards Board Hearings only. The Advocate must be a member of the Albright College Community who has received current training by either the Director or Assistant Director of Community Standards. Complainants and accused students are required to contact the Advocate prior to the hearing.

The role of the Advocate is to assist the complainant or accused student in preparing and/or presenting information and/or witnesses pertaining to his/her case and/or assist the accused student in understanding the charges that have been brought. The Advocate cannot speak on behalf of either the complainant or the accused student before the Community Standards Hearing Board, but does have the right to consult his/her advisee at any time during the hearing.

In addition, the Advocate cannot disrupt the proceedings in any way. If the Advocate does not comply with these standards of behavior, the Community Standards Hearing Board Chairperson or Hearing Officer will ask the Advocate to leave the proceedings.
