| Ryan Ditze, Wendy Frese-Irwin, and Dave Kurzinsky to be Indicted into the Albright Hall of Fame; 66-67 Baseball Team Honored
READING, Pa. – Albright College will induct three new members into its athletics Hall of Fame at a dinner ceremony on Friday, October 5th . Ryan Ditze ‘96, Wendy Frese-Irwin ‘77, and Dave Kurzinsky '77 will become the 70th , 71st , and 72nd members to be entered into the hall.
Ryan Ditze graduated in 1996 with a bachelor's degree in English. He was one of the most prolific receivers on Albright football history. Ditze ranks third on Albright's career record list in receptions (238), receiving yards (3,357), and receiving touchdowns (32). His 20 touchdowns in 1996 are the most in school history, and his 94 receptions for 1,262 yards that season are the second-highest single-season total in school history. Ditze earned All-American honors in 1994 and 1996, when he also was an All-MAC receiver. He was named Albright's Outstanding Senior Male Athlete in 1996. Ditze played one year of professional ball with the Hildesheim Invaders of the European Football League in 1997. He currently teaches at Phillipsburg (NJ) where he serves as the head men's basketball coach and assistant football coach.
Wendy Frese-Irwin graduated in 1977 with a bachelor's degree in Home Economics Education. She earned 12 varsity letters in her four years at Albright, four in field hockey, four in basketball, and four in tennis. In field hockey, Frese-Irwin led Albright in scoring in 1973 and 1974, and was a First-Team All-Lehigh Valley Field Hockey Association selection in ‘73, '74, and '76. On the basketball court she was Albright's leading scorer in 1973 and 1974, and served as team captain as a senior in 1977. Frese-Irwin was also captain of the tennis team in 1977. She was named to the Outstanding College Athletes of America in 1974 and 1975, and was Albright's Outstanding Senior Female Athlete in 1977. Frese-Irwin was inducted into the North Penn-Souderton Area Sports Hall of Fame in 2003,
Dave Kurzinsky graduated in 1977 with a degree in Biochemistry. He earned First-Team All-MAC as a center in 1974, '75, and '76. In 1975 and '76 he was also honored as the First-Team All-ECAC center. Kurzinsky helped pave the way for Albright to reach the NCAA Division III national playoffs in his junior and senior years. He was named Albright's Outstanding Senior Male Athlete in 1977, and was inducted into the Northern Anthracite Chapter of the Pennsylvania State Hall of Fame.
The 1966 and 1967 Albright baseball teams were two of the best in school history. The 1966 team, led by MAC Most valuable player Mike Klahr, won the MAC Northern College Division crown with a 7-1 league record. The Lions repeated in 1967, finishing 9-1 to capture the league title and become the only Albright baseball team to win back to back league titles. |
