October 24, 2007: Messiah 3, Albright 1

Reading, PA - Messiah defeated Albright 3-1 in the final match of the 2007 season for the Lady Lions. Albright finishes 2007 with a 5-16 record, 0-5 in Commonwealth Conference play. Messiah is 17-10, 3-2 in the Commonwealth, and headed to the conference tournament

Messiah won the opening game of the match 30-15, then took game two 30-16. Facing elimination, the Lady Lions fought back, winning game three 30-24 to extend the match to a fourth game. Albright fought gamely, but Messiah prevailed 30-22 to take the win. Junior Jess Higgins led Albright with 11 kills, followed by senior Keri Wischner with six. Wischner, who played her final match for Albright tonight, led the Lady Lions with 25 digs,and freshman setter Lauren Higgins added 23 assists.


October 20, 2007: Albright 3, Marywood 2; Albright 3, Wilkes 1

Reading, PA - Albright swept a tri-match on Saturday, edging Marywood 3-2 and then beating Wilkes 3-1. The Lady Lions are now 5-15 on the season with one match remaining.

In the opener, Albright won the first game 30-27, only to see Marywood rally to win games two and three by identical 30-25 scores. Facing a 2-1 deficit, the Lady Lions rallied, winning game four 30-24 to set up a fifth and deciding game. Albright was able to prevail in game five 15-10 to capture the match 3-2. Senior Keri Wischner led the Lady Lions with 15 kills, while junior Jess Higgins and sophomore Cassie Campbell each had 13 kills. Wischner also had a team-leading 25 digs in the match, and freshman Lauren Higgins had 41 assists and four service aces.

Against Wilkes, Albright took the opening game 30-26, but Wilkes won a hard-fought game two 31-29 to even the match at one. The Lady Lions took over from there, however, winning the third game 30-20, then putting the match away with another 30-20 win in game four. Wischner had another big game, setting a career-high with 20 kills to lead Albright. Sophomore Tina Yatron chipped in with 12 kills for Albright, and Campbell added 10 kills and three aces. Lauren Higgins had 40 assists for the Lady Lions, while Wischner and junior Jen Lynch each had 16 digs.


October 16, 2007: Elizabethtown 3, Albright 0

Elizabethtown, PA - Elizabethtown defeated Albright 3-0 in a Commonwealth Conference match up Tuesday evening. The loss drops Albright to 0-4 in conference play and 3-15 overall, while the Blue Jays improve to 4-0, 22-6.

The host Blue Jays won the opening game of the match 30-17, then took a commanding 2-0 lead with a 30-12 win in game two. Albright played their best game of the night in game three, but Etown still prevailed 30-26 to sweep the match. Sophomore Cassie Campbell led Albright with eight kills in the match, followed by freshman Jill Bonitatibus with five and sophomore Tina Yatron with four. Freshman setter Lauren Higgins finished the match with 20 assists, while freshman Kelly Nicodemus led the Lady Lions with 13 digs.


October 13, 2007: Albright 3, Penn State Berks 2; DeSales 3, Albright 0

Center Valley, PA - Albright defeated Penn State Berks 3-2 and lost to DeSales 3-0 in a tri-match Saturday afternoon at DeSales. The Lady Lions are now 3-14 in 2007.

In the opening match against Penn State Berks, Albright took an early lead with a 30-18 win in game one. PSU answered with a 31-29 win in game two, then took a 2-1 lead with a 30-28 win in game three. With their backs against the wall the Lady Lions fought back, taking game four 30-17 to even the match and force a decisive game five. Albright completed the rally with a 15-9 win in game five to finish off the match. Sophomore Tina Yatron led Albright with a season-high 13 kills in the match, followed by junior Jess Higgins with 10. Freshman Kelly Nicodemus totaled a team-best 37 digs for the Lady Lions.

The second match of the day saw DeSales win the first two games of the match by identical 30-12 scores. Albright did not go down without a fight, forcing the third game into extra points before falling 32-30 as DeSales closed out the match. Jess Higgins' six kills led Albright, while Nicodemus finished with 28 kills.


October 10, 2007: Lycoming 3, Albright 0

Williamsport, PA - Lycoming handed Albright a 3-0 defeat in Commonwealth Conference action Wednesday night. The Lady Lions are now 0-3 in conference play and 2-13 overall, while the Warriors improve to 1-1, 5-20.

Lycoming got off to a quick start, winning the opening game of the match 30-15. The Warriors followed that up with a 30-18 win in game two. Albright played its best game of the match in game three, but still came up on the short end of a 30-25 score as Lycoming closed out the match. Senior Keri Wischner led Albright with seven kills and 16 digs in the match. Freshman setter Lauren Higgins added 20 assists for the Lady Lions.

Albright will travel to DeSales on Saturday for a tri-match with the Bulldogs and Penn State Berks.


October 6, 2007: Gwynedd-Mercy 3, Albright 1; Rowan 3, Albright 0

Lower Gwynedd, PA - Albright dropped both ends of a tri-match Saturday afternoon at Gwynedd-Mercy, falling to the host Griffins 3-1 and to Rowan 3-0. The Lady Lions are now 2-12 on the season.

Gwynedd-Mercy won the first game of the opening match 30-23, but Albright came right back in game two with a 30-20 win. The pivotal third game was a hard-fought contest that saw Gwynedd prevail 30-28. The Griffins then closed out the match with a 30-17 win in game four. Senior Keri Wischner had a strong match for Albright, leading the Lady Lions with seven kills, 21 digs, and five service aces.

In the second match of the day Rowan took game one 30-21, then won game two 30-26. Albright continued to fight hard, taking the Profs right down to the wire in game three before falling 31-29 to close the match. Wischner again led Albright with eight kills and 23 digs. Freshman Lauren Higgins had 23 assists in the match, while Cassie Campbell had six kills, three solo blocks, and four assisted blocks.


October 2, 2007: Lebanon Valley 3, Albright 0

Reading, PA - Lebanon Valley knocked off Albright 3-0 in Commonwealth Conference action Tuesday night in the Bollman Center. With the loss the Lady Lions fall to 0-2 in conference play and 2-10 overall, while the Dutchmen see their record improve to 13-6, 2-0.

Albright struggled at the outset, as LVC won the opening game 30-11. The Lady Lions played much better in game two, falling 30-20. LVC closed out the match with a 30-23 win in game three. Senior Keri Wischner led Albright with 12 kills and 12 digs in the match, while freshman Lauren Higgins had a game-high 22 assists. Freshman Jill Bonitatibus had a good night from the service line for Albright, as she served up a career-best four service aces.


September 29, 2007: Wesley 3, Albright 1

Dover, DE - Albright fell to Wesley 3-1 in a non-conference match Saturday afternoon in Dover. The loss drops Albright to 2-9 on the season, while Wesley improves to 6-6. The Lady Lions lost a hard-fought game one by a score of 33-31, but rallied to even the match with a 30-24 win in game two. Albright couldn't hold the momentum, however, as Wesley won game three 30-24, then finished off the match with a 30-15 win in game four. Junior Jessica Higgins led the Lady Lions with 11 kills, followed by freshman Lauren Higgins with eight. Senior Keri Wischner had a team high 15 assists and added 15 digs, while junior Jen Lynch had a team-best 16 digs.


September 26, 2007: Widener 3, Albright 0

Reading, PA - Albright dropped its Commonwealth Conference opener to Widener by a 3-0 score Wednesday evening in the Bollman Center. The Lady Lions are now 2-8 overall in 2007, while the Pride improves to 9-11, 1-1 with the victory.

Albright struggled in the early going, as the Lady Lions lost game one 30-11. Game two saw Albright improve its play, but the Pride still came away with a 30-19 win. The visitors closed out the match with another 30-19 win in game three. Junior Jennifer Lynch led Albright with seven kills in the match, followed by senior Keri Wischner with six. Wischner and freshman Lauren Higgins each had 10 assists in the match, while Wischner also led Albright with 11 digs. Widener's Kim Brady led all players in the match with nine kills.


September 22, 2007: Alvernia 3, Albright 0; Lebanon Valley 3, Albright 0

York, PA - Albright lost two matches on the second day of the York College Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Lady Lions fell to Alvernia 3-0 and Lebanon Valley 3-0 to see their season record fall to 2-7.

Alvernia came out smoking against the Lady Lions in the first match of the day, winning the opening game 30-13. Albright fought back in game two, but came up just short as the Crusaders prevailed 30-28. Alvernia completed the three game sweep with a 30-19 win in game three. Sophomore Tina Yatron had eight kills to lead Albright, while junior Jennifer Lynch led the Lady Lions with 12 digs. Senior Keri Wischner led Albright with 14 assists.

In the final game of the tournament Commonwealth Conference rival Lebanon Valley jumped on top with a 30-12 win in game one. The Dutchmen took game two 30-21 and game three 30-23 to finish off the Lady Lions. Freshman Lauren Higgins had six kills and 11 assists for Albright, while junior Jessica Higgins had 12 digs.


September 21, 2007: Virginia Wesleyan 3, Albright 0; York 3, Albright 0

York, PA - Albright dropped the first two matches of the York College Invitational Friday afternoon, falling to Virginia Wesleyan and York College by 3-0 scores. The Lady Lions are now 2-5 on the season.

In the opener against Virginia Wesleyan, the Marlins took game one 30-19, then game two 30-13. Virginia Wesleyan then closed out the match with a 30-20 win in game three. Sophomore Tina Yatron had a team-high seven kills for Albright, while senior Keri Wischner had 10 assists and 10 digs. Freshman Lauren Higgins chipped in with three service aces. The Lady Lions had no better luck against the host Spartans in the second match of the day. York won game one 30-10, then took games two and three by identical 30-18 scores to defeat the Lady Lions for the second time this fall. Junior Jessica Higgins had five kills to lead Albright.


September 8, 2007: Albright 3, Centenary 2; King's 3, Albright 0

Bethlehem, PA - Albright won a tough 3-2 opening match against Centenary Saturday morning, then fell to King's 3-0 in the final match of the Buttermaker Tournament at Muhlenberg College. The Lady Lions are now 2-3 on the season.

In match one, Albright dropped game one 30-23, then came back to take game two 30-20. Centenary took the third game 30-16, but once again the Lady Lions rallied, winning the fourth game 30-21 to send the match to a fifth and deciding game. Albright pulled ahead in the game and came away with a 15-10 win to capture the match. Freshman Lauren Higgins led Albright with 10 kills, while freshman Kelly Nicodemus finished with a match-best 26 digs.

The second match of the day featured a great opening game, with King's prevailing 32-30. The Monarchs then took game two 30-23 and game three 30-21 to complete the sweep of Albright. Senior Keri Wischner led Albright with seven kills and 15 digs, while junior Jessica Higgins added 14 digs.


September 7, 2007: York 3, Albright 0; FDU-Florham 3, Albright 0

Bethlehem, PA - Albright lost a pair of matches at the Buttermaker Tournament on the campus of Muhlenberg College Friday night. The Lady Lions fell to York College 3-0 and FDU-Florham 3-0.

In the opening match of the day, York one the first game of the match 30-17, then took game two 30-18. The Spartans closed out the match with a 30-23 win in game three. Junior Jessica Higgins led Albright with five kills on 10 attempts without an error for a .500 hitting percentage. Higgins also added seven digs, and freshman Kelly Nicodemus added 13 digs.

Match two saw FDU-Florham jump out to a 1-0 lead with a 30-19 win in the opener. Albright rallied in the second game, but came up on the short end of a 30-27 score. Albright fell to the Devils 30-23 in game three to end the match. Jessica and Lauren Higgins each had eight kills to lead the Lady Lions, while Kelly Nicodemus and Jennifer Lynch led the team with 15 digs each.


September 5, 2007: Albright 3, Alvernia 1

Reading, PA - Albright opened the 2007 season with a 3-1 at crosstown rival Alvernia Wednesday night. The win was the first in the career of new Lady Lion head coach Jen Constantino.

Albright won game one 30-24, then took control of the match with a 30-26 win in game two. The Crusaders rallied to keep the match alive with a 30-22 win in game three, but the Lady Lions put Alvernia away with a 30-21 win in game four. Senior Keri Wischner led Albright with 13 kills and added 14 assists, while junior Jessica Higgins chipped in with 11 assists. Freshman led Albright with 19 assists and five aces, while freshman Kelly Nicodemus had a game-high 26 digs for the Lady Lions.
