February 11, 2007: MAC Championship Day Three

Wilkes-Barre, PA - Albright finished in second place at the MAC Championship meet this past weekend in Wilkes-Barre. The Lions finished the meet with 501 points, trailing only Widener and out-pacing Susquehanna, who defeated the Lions in a dual meet in January. Despite not capturing any individual or relay titles, a number of Lions turned in strong performances during the tree-day meet. Sophomore Mike Stoloski took second place in the 100 butterfly and third in the 200 butterfly, while junior Adam Daney placed second in the 200 freestyle and fourth in the 500 freestyle. Senior Ben Hatt reached the finals of three events, taking third place in the 400 IM and 200 backstroke and sixth place in the 200 IM. Freshman Jeff Tavor also had a solid meet, finishing second in the 200 breaststroke and sixth in the 200 freestyle.

February 10, 2007: MAC Championship Day Two

Wilkes-Barre, PA - Albright remained in second place after the second day of competition at the MAC Championship meet in Wilkes-Barre Saturday night. The Lions have 347 points heading into Sunday's final day of the meet, trailing only Widener with 519.

The Lions remain in search of their first event championship of the meet after a couple of close calls on Saturday. Sophomore Mike Sroloski finished second in the 100 butterfly, while junior Adam Daney also picked up a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle. Albright's 800 freestyle relay team also just missed a championship, finishing second in a time of 7:12.85.

February 9, 2007: MAC Championship Day One

Wilkes-Barre, PA - Albright held second place after the first day of the MAC Championship Meet at the CYC pool in Wilkes-Barre Friday night. The Lions totaled 156 points on the day to trail only defending champion Widener, which posted 250 points to lead the way.

Albright opened the meet with freshman Jack Kubacki, sophomore John Ferrara, junior Adam Daney, and senior Matt Cribbs teaming up to take fourth place in the 200 free relay. In the first individual event of the night the Lions placed three swimmers in the finals of the 500 free. Daney finished fourth, freshman Kyle Torrens was sixth, and senior Richard Branagan took seventh as Albright racked up valuable team points. The 200 IM was next, and saw freshman Jeff Tavor and senior Ben Hatt finish 5-6 for the Lions. In the final individual event of day one Ferrara placed eighth in the 50 free. The Lions closed the evening with Tavor, Ferrara, Daney, and sophomore Mike Stoloski placing fourth in the 400 medley relay.

January 27, 2007: Albright 87, Drew 62

Reading, PA - Albright won nine 10 events on senior day in an 87-62 win over Drew Saturday afternoon. The Lions close out the dual meet season with a record of 7-3 overall and 5-2 against MAC competition. Drew falls to 2-8, 1-5 with the loss.

Senior Ben Hatt had a big day for the Lions in his final home meet. He picked up a pair of wins on the day, capturing the 200 free and the 200 back. Fellow senior Richard Branagan also collected a victory on the afternoon, finishing first in the 200 fly. Junior Adam Daney won the 500 free, sophomore Mike Stoloski took the 200 IM, freshman Jack Kubacki finished first in the 50 free, and freshman Jeff Travor won the 200 breast to complete the list of individual winners for the Lions. In the relay events, Stoloski joined senior Matt Cribs, junior Dave Kile, and sophomore John Ferrara to win the 400 medley, while Cribbs, Hatt, Kubacki, and sophomore Kyle Torrens closed the meet with a win in the 400 free relay.

Albright will now set its sights on the MAC Championship meet, to be held February 9, 10, and 11 at the CYC pool in Wilkes-Barre.


January 20, 2006: Susquehanna 109, Albright 96

Selinsgrove, PA - Susquehanna upset Albright 109-96 in an MAC dual meet Saturday afternoon. The loss drops Albright to 6-3 overall in 2006-07 and 4-2 against MAC teams, while Susquehanna improves to 5-1 in the MAC and 5-3 overall.

Albright had five individual event winners on the afternoon in a meet that was still undecided heading in the final relay. The Lions got wins from junior Adam Daney in the 200 free, sophomore Mike Stoloski in the 200 fly, sophomore John Ferrara in the 200 back, senior Ben Hatt in the 500 free, and freshman Jeff Travor in the 200 breast. Albright trailed by just four points heading in the final event of the afternoon, the 400 free relay. The Lions gave a great effort, but fell less than a second short as Susquehanna took the win in the race and the overall meet.


January 13, 2006: Albright 107, Elizabethtown 73

Elizabethtown, PA - Adam Daney won two individual events to help lead Albright to a 107-73 win in an MAC meet Saturday afternoon. The win improves Albright to 6-2 on the season and 4-1 against MAC competition. The Blue Jays fall to 4-5 overall, 4-2 in the MAC.

The Lions won five individual events in the meet, led by Daney's double. He finished first in the 200 free and also captured the 500 free to cap his afternoon. Albright also got wins from senior Ben Hatt in the 400 IM, sophomore Mike Stoloski in the 100 fly, and freshman Jack Kubacki in the 100 free. The Lions closed out the meet with a victory in the 200 free relay. Hatt, Stoloski, and Kubacki joined senior Matt Cribbs to pick up the win.


January 12, 2006: Kutztown 176, Albright 83

Kutztown, PA - Kutztown defeated Albright 176-83 in a non-conference meet Friday night. The Lions fall to 5-2 on the season, while the Golden Bears improve to 3-1.

14 events were contested on the evening, and the Lions were able to come away with a win in only one. Sophomore Mike Stoloski was victorious in the 100 fly in a time of 56.11 for Albright, the lone bright spot for the Lions as Kutztown won the other 13 events of the night.

Albright returns to the pool on Saturday with a 1:00 meet at Elizabethtown.


January 7, 2006: Albright 119, Scranton 84

Reading, PA - Albright showed no signs of rust in its first dual meet in seven weeks as the Lions rolled past MAC foe Scranton 119-84 Saturday afternoon in the Albright Natatorium. The Lions are now 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the MAC, while Scranton falls to 4-2 overall and 4-1 in the MAC.

The Lions were led by senior Ben Hatt and junior Adam Daney, who each collected a pair of individual meet victories. Hatt picked up wins in the 200 IM and 500 free, while Daney finished first in the 100 and 200 free events. Albright also got individual wins in from sophomore Kyle Torrens in the 1000 free, freshman Jack Kubacki in the 50 free, and freshman Jeff Travor in the 200 breaststroke. The Lions finished off the meet with a win in the 400 free relay. Kubacki and Hatt teamed up with sophomores Mike Stoloski and John Ferrara to give the Lions the win.


November 17, 2006: Albright 105, Bloomsburg 98

Reading, PA - Junior Adam Daney, sophomores John Ferrara and Mike Stoloski, and freshman Jack Kubacki teamed up to win the final event of the night, the 200 free relay, and seal a 105-98 win for Albright over Division II Bloomsburg Friday night in the Albright Natatorium. The Lions are now 4-1 on the season, while the Huskies fall to 0-3.

Albright opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay. Stoloski and Ferrara joined seniors Matt Cribbs and Ben Hatt to take the victory. In the individual events Hatt and Daney led the way for the Lions, as they both won two events. Hatt took first in the 200 IM and 500 free, while Daney finished first in the 100 and 200 free. Stoloski also picked up a win for the Lions, taking the 200 fly. Those wins would set the stage for the night's final event, the 200 free relay, as Albright came away with the dramatic victory.


November 11, 2006: Widener 112, Albright 71

Chester, PA - Albright suffered its first dual meet loss of the season on Saturday, falling to Widener 112-71 in Chester. The Lions are 3-1 on the season, 2-1 against MAC opponents. Senior Matt Cribbs picked up Albright's only win in an individual event on the afternoon, winning the 100 breast stroke. The Lions also got a victory in the 400 free relay in the final event of the meet. Junior Adam Daney, sophomores Mike Stoloski and John Ferrara, and freshman Jack Kubacki teamed up to take the win.

Albright jumps back into the pool on Friday when Bloomsburg comes to Reading. The meet is slated to begin at 6:00.


November 4, 2006: Albright 100, Lycoming 78

Reading, PA - Albright swept all 10 events in a 100-78 win over Lycoming Saturday in the first home dual meet of the 2006-07 season. The Lions improve to 3-0 on the young season with the win, while Lycoming falls to 0-1.

Albright opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay. Seniors Ben Hatt and Matt Cribbs joined sophomore John Ferrara and Mike Stoloski in earning the win. Junior Adam got things started for the Lions in the individual events with a win in the 200 free, and freshman Jack Kubacki followed with a win in the 50 free. Senior Richard Branagan captured the 200 IM, Stoloski took the 100 fly, and Daney picked up his second win of the meet in the 100 free to keep things rolling for the Lions. Ferrara placed first in the 100 back, Hatt won the 500 free, and Cribbs took the 100 breast to complete an Albright sweep in the individual events. Kubacki, Daney, Stoloski, and Ferrara then salted away the victory for Albright with a win in the 200 free relay to close out the meet.

Albright will return to action in one week when the Lions travel to Chester to face rival Widener Saturday at 1:00.


November 1, 2006: Albright 54, Lebanon Valley 40; Albright 71, Cabrini 12

Annville, PA - Albright opened the dual meet season with a pair of wins on Wednesday, beating Lebanon Valley 54-40 and Cabrini 71-12. The Lions won six individual events in the meet, with six different swimmers each taking one event. Sophomore John Ferrara won the 200 free, freshman Jack Kubacki took the 50 free, senior Ben Hatt captured the 200 IM, senior Richard Branagan finished first in the 100 fly, sophomore Mike Stoloski won the 100 free, and senior Matt Cribbs took the 100 breast stroke. Albright also won the 200 medley relay, as Cribbs, Hatt, Stoloski, and junior Adam Daney teamed up to capture first place for the Lions.


October 21, 2006: Bloomsburg Relays

Blomsburg, PA - Albright opened the 2006-07 season at the Bloomsburg Relays Saturday afternoon. The Lions finished third in the meet, and won two events on the afternoon. Senior Richard Branagan, sophomore Mike Stoloski, and freshman Jack Kubacki combined to win the 3 x 100 butterfly in the opening event of the day. The Lions also won the 400 free relay, with Stoloski and Kubacki joining seniors Adam Daney and Matt Cribbs to take the victory.
