Albert Medoro Named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year
Reading, PA - Albright senior forward Albert Medoro (Exton,PA/West Chester Henderson) was named the Commonwealth Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year on Thursday. He was also named to the All-Conference First-Team. Medoro was the only player in the conference to average a double-double for the season, scoring 13.5 points and collecting 10.2 rebounds per game. He led the conference and ranked among the top 30 in the nation in rebounding while finishing fifth in the conference in scoring.
A dominant player in the low blocks for the Lions, Medoro added an outside game to his arsenal this winter, shooting 42.6% (20-47) from three-point range. For the season he shot 51.9% from the field, ranking ninth in the conference.
Two time this winter Medoro was honored as the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week, earning the nod on December 17th and January 6th. He has also put his name in the Albright record books, as his average 10.25 rebounds per game this year ranks third on Albright's single-season rebounding list. On January 22 at Widener, Medoro grabbed a career-best 22 rebounds, the second-highest single game total in school history and one off the all-time Albright record.
Medoro is the first Lion to be named the Commonwealth Player of the Year since the 1999-2000 season, when Shawn Swavely was tabbed for the honor.
