2007 Fall Golf Match Recaps
October 3, 2007: Messiah College Falcon Classic
Harrisburg, PA - Senior Mike Heller shot a one-over par 73 to tie for medallist honors at the Messiah College Falcon Classic Wednesday afternoon at the Blue Ridge Country Club. Heller shared the honor with Muhlenberg's Geoff Kellerman. The Lions finished with a team score of 339 on the afternoon, good for fifth out of eight teams. Freshman Matt Osorio was next for Albright with a 79, followed by fellow freshman Dan O'Neill's 89. Sophomore Kevin Harrington carded a 98 to complete the scoring for the Lions.
October 1, 2007: Albright 303, Moravian 319, Elizabethtown 330, Lebanon Valley 337
Reading, PA - Albright defeated Moravian, Elizabethtown, and Lebanon Valley in a quad match Monday afternoon at the Berkshire Country Club. The Lions posted a team score of 303, while Moravian shot 319, Etown 331, and Lebanon Valley 337. Freshman Matt Osorio fired a 74 to lead Albright and tie LVC's Steve Gaby for the low round of the match. Senior Mike Heller was right behind Osorio with a 75, while freshman Aaron Van Deursen and senior Brett Lehman each carded a 77 to give the Lions their 303 total.
September 24, 2007: Lebanon Valley Fall Tournament
Lebanon, PA - Senior Mike Heller fired an even-par 72 to finish in fourth place out of 93 players in the Lebanon Valley Fall Tournament held Monday afternoon at the Lebanon Country Club. Albright finished with a team score of 329 for the tournament, good for 12th place out of 20 teams. Heller's total was just one shot off the winning score, as three players carded 71's on the day. Randy Boll of F&M was the overall winner based on tiebreakers. For Albright, freshman Matt Osorio was next, posting a round of 83 to finish in a tie for 44th position. Freshman Dan O'Neill's 86 placed him in a tie for 63rd, while freshman Dave Morano finished with an 88 to place 69th and round out the team score for the Lions.
September 20, 2007: Moravian Fall Invitational
Bath, PA - Freshman Matt Osorio fired a 74 to lead Albright to a fourth-place finish out of 19 teams at the Moravian Fall Invitational Thursday afternoon. The Lions put together a team- score of 305 on the par-71 Southmoore Golf Course, trailing first-place Susquehanna by just seven shots. Osorio's 74 put him in a tie for fifth place in the individual competition. Senior Erik Carl was right behind Osorio, posting a score of 75 to finish in a tie for 10th position. Freshman Dan O'Neill shot a 77 to tie for 21st place, while senior Mike Heller finished with a 79 to tie for 35th. Sophomore Aaron Van Deursen carded an 80 for the Lions to tie for 42nd and complete the top five for the Lions.
September 17, 2007: Albright 377, FDU-Florham 401; Albright 308, DeSales 386
Reading, PA - Albright picked up a pair of wins Monday afternoon at the Berkshire Country Club. The Lions defeated FDU-Floham 377-401 in a best five of eight match, and drilled DeSales 308-386 in a best four scores match.
Senior Mike Heller was the low man of the day, shooting a 71 to lead the Lions. Fellow senior Erik Carl turned in a great round, carding a 75 on the afternoon, followed by freshman Matt Osorio with a 76. Sophomore Aaron Van Deursen shot a 77 and sophomore Mike Ranaldo posted a 78 to complete the top five for the Lions. Albright's five-man total of 377 bested FDU by 24 shots.
For the match against DeSales, Albright split into two teams. The red team of Heller, Van Deursen, freshman Dan O'Neill (79) and freshman Dave Morano (81) finished with an 18-hole total of 308. Albright's white team of Carl, Osorio, Ranaldo, and freshman Brett Cybulski (79) also totaled a 308. That placed both teams well ahead of DeSales' 18-hole score of 386.
September 15, 2007: Fall Blue Jay Classic
Elizabethtown, PA - Albright finished 6 th our out of 11 teams at the Elizabethtown Fall Blue Jay Classic Saturday afternoon. The Lions posted a team score of 321 on the par-71 Hershey Country Club East course. Senior Mike Heller was the low man for the Lions, firing a three-over par 74 to place third in the individual competition. Freshman Dan O'Neill was next for Albright with a 79, followed by senior Brett Lehman and sophomore Aaron Van Deurson, who each shot 84.
September 13, 2007: Albright 379, Elizabethtown 407, Alvernia 409, Gwynedd-Mercy 414
Reading, PA - Albright opened the 2007 fall campaign by beating Alvernia, Elizabethtown , and Gwynedd-Mercy in a quad match Thursday at the Reading Country Club. Senior Mike Heller was the low man of the day, as he fired a 72 to best the competition. Sophomore Aaron Van Deursen was right behind Heller with a 73, followed by Matt Osorio and Dan O'Neill, who shot 76 and 77 respectively. Senior Erik Carl rounded out the top five for the Lions with an 81. Albright finished with a team score of 379, 28 shots better than Elizabethtown, who finished at 407. Alvernia placed third with a team total of 409, while Gwynedd-Mercy finished wit a total of 414.
